A Minute With Infected Mushroom @ Snowta

Just over three weeks ago we had the pleasure of speaking with Amit Duvdevani (Duvdev) of Infected Mushroom. This infamous psytrance duo consisting of longtime friends Duvdev, and Erez Eisen just celebrated their 20th year of making music and touring together. Over the years their music has gone through many transformations, but still utilizing the unique sound they grew famous with throughout the length of their discography. If you are familiar with Infected Mushroom you may know they tour with two different styles. In one hand they play one of the most electric and energetic live sets in the world. The live sets consisting of a full band playing only originals with a one of a kind stage set up. On the other hand they also tour and play shows doing a Dj set consisting of Duvdev and Erez, and if you think this show would be anything less your mistaken. Their Dj sets host many of their owns songs played in ways you may not recognize, to remixed songs by acts like System of A Down. Either way walking into one of their shows you are in for an adventure of epic proportions. We would suggest going to both given the opportunity.

On New Years Eve in Minneapolis at Snowta NYE Music Festival we met up Duvdev after their set, behind the main stage.

TE (The Eyerarchy): We’ve been hearing rumors that you guys have not only been working on new music but may be announcing a new album soon?

Duvdev: It hasn’t been announced yet but, in a few days we will publicly announce that on the 27th of January our newest album “Return to the Sauce” will be released. We wil also be doing extensive touring with the release.

TE: Over the last few years you have released four VST (Virtual Studio Technology) instruments, what has the process been like putting these together?

Duvdev: Generally we have been coming up with ideas of what we want, and how we want it. Then we work with the Polyverse tech team to help us design it. The team has been wonderful at organizing and building what we envision. They have been a bit hit among producers, and we are very happy with the products that we have put out.

TE: How have you seen electronic music change over the years.?

Duvdev: It has grown so much. What used to take mostly hardware can now be done with software. Tons of amazing artists are coming out of nowhere while creating something very unique to them. Things have just been getting bigger.

At this point, our interview came to a halt, but not before we could thank Duvdev, as Waka Flocka Flame had to meet the duo before his performance.

Throughout our conversation, one could not help but get a somewhat humbled feeling from the duo who appears to be very happy to be out here dropping amazing music for such an attentive crowd. We really look forward to what the coming years of Infected Mushroom, what that will bring, and especially to “Return to the Sauce” this Friday. We want to again thank Infected Mushroom for taking a few minutes to speak with us, and wish you guys the best going into your 21st year of Infected Mushroom!
