As the earth went into a rotation, for the last day of 2016, many people had one thing on their mind. The party that’s about to happen when the sun goes down! We had the honor of receiving this first year of Snowta this New Years Eve, and believe me the excitement was extreme out here in Minneapolis. When two of the cities best promoters get together to fill a bill with some of the most amazing artists hitting the stage these days, the best kind of chaos is bound to be accounted for. Not to mention that festival goes from over 40 states, and a few from out of the country use this day to dance away the previous year and bring in the light in a new year.
The likes of Big Gigantic, Tipper, Waka Flocka Flame, Infected Mushroom, Prof, DJ Abilities, and much more had the entire Minneapolis Convention Centre ready to turn up for the new year. As soon as you walked through the gates you could feel the growing energy of the people around you, and even more so you could feel the beat pumping through the Funkiton One sound system from a mile away. Snowta was organized into three separate rooms with elegant landscapes and some beautiful art displays. The two larger room each contained one huge stage, the Main Stage, and the Gray Duck Stage. The one smaller room housed the Pyramid stage, you may have seen this beautiful stage at Infrasound previously. Located in the main stage area there was a large collective of many psyschelic infused artists, with someone the most brilliant original works. don’t forget the hat pins, hat pins of all design everywhere. The overall layout was a big unique for this festival, especially the size of the VIP area. Bouncing between stages was very easy, especially for those with who chose to go the VIP route.
Rolling through the night all of the festival goes were hit hard and quick with a multitude of heavy bass and an array of rhymes. Leading up to Midnight were quickly knew this evening was going to get the very best out of everyone present from the old school DJ Abilities fans, all the way through the diehard Tipper following. To all of those who really don’t remember a whole lot, because let’s be honest it was New Year’s Eve, here are a few of the best kept moments in time at Snowta!
